Tule hyvä kakku

In Finland when kids are playing in the sandbox and make sand castles with their buckets they say “Älä tule paha kakku, tule hyvä kakku!” which means don’t turn out a bad cake, be a good cake! This is a bit like it feels now on my house project. Despite the first plan of building on pillars we decided to cast the foundation in concrete. So basically you need long planks, metal rods and plastic pipes, and you build a huge frame for the concrete to be poored in. So you build the frame in the shape of the house, strengthen it with metal rods and place plastic tubes in between the planks where the ventilation is going to go. When the frame is ready you pour concrete in the frame and let it dry. Then when it’s dry you take off the frame and then you place the bricks on top. That’s taking place tomorrow. This is how it looks now:

This is what the frame looks like, two rows of planks, tubes in between and metal rods inside the frame to support the concrete

In front, the left wing, in the middle the diningarea and at the back the livingroom

My boyfriend proudly standing in the left wing 🙂
